Income Tax Self Assessments

Anyone who is required to file a self assessment income tax return for 2009/2010 should now be filing on line. The deadline for paper filing was 31.10.2010. In order to online file by the deadline of 31.01.2011, and so avoid any penalties, an individual must be registered with HMRC.

In order to register with HMRC:

1. Telephone HMRC to register – you will be given a user id immediately.
2. An activation code will be sent to you within 7 days. The activation code has a limited life span and should be used as soon as possible.

To avoid the inevitable rush for registration in January HMRC advise registering now to avoid any delays.
