A new national minimum wage rate will apply from 1st October 2010. This will apply to all contractors working in Umbrella Companies or direct with Agencies from that date.

The main rate for workers over the age of 21 is 5.93 per hour. This equates to £207.55 on a 35 hour week or £237.20 on a 40 hour week. This principal rate used to apply to contractors over the age of 22 but the age has been reduced to 21 from 1st October 2010.

 

The alternative rates are as follows:

 

Aged 18 -20      £4.92 per hour

 

Aged 16-17        £3.64 per hour.
